Regardless of how long you’ve been in business, every now and again, you’re likely to try and defy your gut instinct. And consequently, the universe will shake you back down to reality and I’m talking from experience here.
Last week, I celebrated my 1-year in business mark and it’s been a brilliant period. Sure, there have been those mind-numbing ‘what are you doing?’moments but all in all, it’s safe to say I’ve realised where I’m meant to be.
That said, every now and again, even the most seasoned of business owners can fall off the bandwagon. This was something I was reminded of recently when I took on a job that instantly, just didn’t feel right. So why did I pursue it? Here’s the thing:
Sometimes, our own ambition leads us to places we’re not meant to be.
Can you relate?
What I mean by this is that even though all of my senses were screaming out to me that ‘this isn’t you, this isn’t what you do or will contribute in any way to where you’re going,’ I still went along with it because I thought this particular adventure could lead me to places I see myself going via useful contacts. As they say, who you know is sometimes more than what you know.
The result: disaster. Not for the first time either. I’ve defied ‘gut logic’ on numerous occasions now and each time, it’s brought me back to reality with a big giant thud. As a professional writer, emotion is part of everything I do and while it can be hard to handle the constant ups and downs, we must acknowledge the universe’s intent to continue guiding us along the path intended for us.
